Quote Thoughts

"Employers identify communication as one of the
basic competencies every graduate should have, asserting that the ability to communicate is valuable for obtaining employment and maintaining successful job performance.”
Sherwyn Morreale, Michael Osborn & Judy Pearson, Professors of Communication
(2000)

I agree with the quote that communication is one of the basic competencies that every graduate should have, as employers will usually look to hire graduates that can communicate well with their team and share their ideas professionally. It will be difficult for the graduates to get a job if he/she is hard to communicate with and is unable to explain why he is the perfect person for the job, during the short interview.

Even if already employed, the ability to communicate is still essential. Good communication between colleagues makes the company run more smoothly, as giving instructions and information will be quick and clear with minimal or zero misunderstandings.

Therefore the message of the quote is that being able to communicate well is important, or as important as being able to do your job well, in the workforce.
